ello, my name is Cathy Brown, and here is a little bit about myself:
Im a 51-year old Scientologist. Ive had many careers in my life, including: working as a chiropractic assistant, owning and operating an art gallery, teaching, running a private school and now working as a publicist for childrens books.
I am married and have four children, all grown. And I have one granddaughter. I am the oldest of seven children and enjoy all of my brothers and sisters and their families. Traveling, reading and horseback riding are favorite pastimes. Although I like to eat and am a good cook, cooking is not one of my favorite things to do.
All of my life I have been fairly religious. When I was a teenager, I was in a Catholic convent for two years studying to become a nun. Spirituality was an accepted thing in our household. And yet, all of my life I had the feeling that there was "something more" to life than what I was doing or being. At first, I thought it might be becoming a nun. That wasnt it. Then, I thought it might be going to college. That wasnt it either. After that, I thought maybe it was getting married. Nope! How about having children? Despite the fact that I love them dearly, thats not it either. Then I found Scientology and realized, "This is it!"
After having been married for seven years and having two children, I became divorced. This was not a particularly happy time of my life. After being separated for about a year, I began dating my current husband who was (and is) a Scientologist. He started giving me some information about the mind. I asked all kinds of questions about this and he referred me to some books by L. Ron Hubbard. I realized right away that if what these books said was true, we are much more powerful than we thought we were. I wanted to have some of this ability back and I wanted to be the one in control rather than have my mind control me. So I decided to take a course to get started. It was a basic communications course, which gave me tools to communicate much more effectively than I had before. This was in 1976. I have been a Scientologist now for 22 years and have found that every course I have taken and every book I have read has given me another tool) and sometimes more than one) for use in my
life.
