I have had a basic purpose since childhood to help people do well in life, to take away those elements that cause individuals to be hurt and alone in their suffering, and to see people flourish and be free within themselves and in their activities. As I grew up I lost sight of that purpose; got concerned with myself and had my own struggles and confusions. Then one day by chance I came across Scientology and decided to check it out. I learned a little data about the mind and applied it to my life and it worked! Something that would plague me every once in awhile was no longer a mystery to me and I was able to master it. I saw how this technology could really help anyone. Some of the benefits I've had with Scientology technology follow:
While working a summer job between university terms one year I started getting stomachaches from out of the blue. I found that drinking alcohol after work would calm me down and get rid of the stomachache. But this was a poor solution and didn't always work. My mother had died of cancer and I started thinking possibly I had cancer. I saw a doctor for it and he could offer no answer. After two evenings on the first course I took in Scientology, called The Anatomy of the Human Mind course, I understood where these stomachaches were coming from and I never got one again.
I used to have hay fever. When I first started studying Scientology it was the springtime and I was popping pills every 3-4 hours to try to control my itchy throat and eyes, and runny nose (and these medications had little and limited effect). A Scientology auditor (auditor = one who listens carefully to what people have to say. An auditor is a person trained and qualified in applying Scientology processes to others for their betterment.) asked me a few questions and I recalled an incident when I was about 8 years old and had a realization regarding it. Unbelievably my hay fever blew. I mean, it was gone. Today, 26 years later, I still have no hay fever. I can take as many deep breaths of the fragrance of grass and flowers and trees and of course I am fine. This was another psychosomatic illness (caused by the mind) which did not handle with medical means but which handled when addressed as a psychosomatic illness.
When I was about 10 years old I took swimming lessons. I was asked into the speed swimmers class but declined the invitation--no one knew I always held my breath when I swam, and I never told anyone. Probably I swam fast just so I could get to the other side where I could stop and take a breath! When I was in my teens I got a book on swimming from the library and practiced exercises such as taking a breath and blowing it out under water; but my heart was pounding, I was nervous and it was such an ordeal for me that I still couldn't swim without holding my breath. After some Scientology auditing (none of which specifically addressed this area) I went home to visit my Dad and he was swimming regularly so I went with him. I got in the water and while swimming I started applying what I had read in the book from the library years earlier, and lo and behold, I could coordinate my breathing with my movements, and for the first time I could swim!!! What specifically did it? I don't know. I became more relaxed after taking Scientology courses and auditing. In some auditing sessions I did recall a couple of incidents relating to drowning but the auditing wasn't specifically addressing the subject of swimming. Being able to swim was just a side bonus of the auditing.
All my life I've broken up with boyfriends I had, from the time I was a little girl. I remember in 7th grade one day I realized that I'd been going around with the same guy for almost a year and this startled me; I decided I'd better get someone new. And that was it for that relationship; once the decision was made I never looked back. It wasn't until I received some auditing in Scientology (on various subjects, not specifically on my relationships with men) that I had some realizations about my trustworthiness and responsibility, etc. As a direct result of Scientology auditing and training I've received I am glad to say that I've now been married to the same man for 21 years, I love him more than ever, love to see him and spend time with him, and I truly can call myself his friend. He knows he can trust me to give him backup and support in good and bad times, and he knows I care for him no matter what and want to see him do well in life. He knows I won't betray him. I've become someone who knows how to love; how to be a friend. This is very valuable to me and to those around me.
My husband used to have trouble with kidney stones. One night I heard him calling my name; it was 4:00 am. I looked out over the loftbed and here he was kneeling on the floor leaning over a chair--he'd been awake for hours with a kidney stone and woke me only to get me to take him to the hospital. I started getting dressed to do so, then decided to give him a Scientology Assist (simple, easily done processes that can be applied to anyone to help them recover more rapidly from accidents, mild illness or upsets. While assists are not intended to replace medical treatment, they do much to alleviate physical pain and discomfort.) In a half hour he said he had only a twinge of sensation left and said he wanted to sleep. When he woke up later that morning the pain was fully gone and since then he's found the nutritional cause of his kidney stones and doesn't get them anymore. It was great to be able to help my husband in this way.
Those are just a few of the ways I've benefited from Scientology technology both in helping myself and in giving me technology which allows me to be able to truly help others. There are many more benefits I've gained.
And they await you, too.
